Volunteers are the backbone of our operation. Every week, many individuals commit themselves to performing the many tasks necessary in order for our food bank to meet its mission. Our volunteers are retirees, elementary and high school students, employees of businesses, college interns, and individuals from every "walk of life." All are dedicated to helping others. These volunteers help unload food deliveries and donations, weigh and record the information, check and sort foods, stock the shelves, breakdown the cardboard, clean, assist during the family choice shopping, register and check-in families, escort first time families, explain additional services available, and supervise the check-out area. Their cheerful enthusiasm, faithful assistance, sensitivity, and congeniality assure that our families receive the food assistance they need in a respectful and dignified manner. We and our families are very fortunate to have this group of volunteers. Their dedication and commitment to assisting families in need is a model for everyone.
SUE ISHNER

After the tragic death of her daughter, Sue needed something to help her cope. Of her experiences with us, Sue said, "Thanks to the Enfield Food Shelf, Linda, and the wonderful volunteers, I am alive again!" |
DAVID STEINMANN

Upon retirement, David began to volunteer at our food bank 3 days each week. About his 4 years with us, David states that he has become the "go to guy," enjoys being with the volunteers and clients, and has a lot of fun. |
